Something in the water…

During periods of hot dry weather, the water in ponds can be very short of oxygen which will affect the fish and plants. If your fish are gulping at the surface it’s a sure sign they need more oxygen! So make sure your pond contains plenty of oxygenating plants and add a waterfall or fountain.
The constant movement of water is one of the best ways of aerating a pond. Don’t forget, fish will be very active now, so feed them little and often with a high protein fish food. Do not forget to check your equipment like filters and pumps to make sure that everything is working well.

Natural green water control

Natural control includes shading the surface of the pond with plants. A combination of aquatic, marginal, deep water and floating plants will not only reduce light streaming through the water but soak up the nutrients the algae needs to bloom.

Enjoy! This is the time to sit back and enjoy the work you have put into your water garden.
